Today’s Inspiration: “He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife, But he who trusts in the Lord will be prospered. He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, But whoever walks wisely will be delivered.” Proverbs 28:25-26 NKJV. Without a strong prayer life, pride arises because one will depend on self rather than God. Self-righteousness is self-centredness. John the Baptist told his disciples that Christ must be greater and he lesser. John 3:30. What was the reason for Jesus, who has the fullness of God to be baptised by John? He can justify himself rightly and hold his own esteem but Jesus told John the Baptist that this has to happen to fulfil all righteousness of God. Matthew 3:15.
Jesus shows that even during baptism, He was praying and the Holy Spirit came upon Him with an open heaven, and John heard the voice of God, saying,” This is my son whom I loved, with Him I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17. Obedience is better than sacrifice and fulfilling God’s will surpasses all ours. Our righteousness are filthy rages. Isaiah 64:6. Problems in life arises when we take things into our own hands and not to God in prayer. Self-centredness is also Self-consciousness because you are more concern about what others speak of you rather than God. Philippians 2:3. Or another way, you only want your opinions heard and not others. You become easily ensnared by social media critics, toxic opinions, endless arguments and soon you found yourself in a digital prison rather than at the Prayer Altar of God. It is fine to wake up from the spiritual slumber for prayer and to buy oil for the lamps to be lit in the temple of the Holy Spirit which is your heart. 1 Corinthians 3:16. Praise God!
Prayer: O Lord my God, forgive me of all pride, self-righteousness, self-centeredness and self-dependency to do things without you. Lead me back to your altar daily in prayer and at all times to seek you first your Kingdom and righteousness. Let your Word by my will and wisdom. Teach me to humble myself in valuing others more than myself, to see the best in others and to honour one another in reverence to God always, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
