Today’s Inspiration: “Better is open rebuke than hidden love. Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.” Proverbs 27:5-6 NIV. There is a Chinese saying that effective medicine is bitter and wise words are hard for the ears. We hear what we like to hear rather than what we need to hear from the Word of God. Wisdom teaches us,” Those who disregard discipline despise themselves, but the one who heeds correction gains understanding. Proverbs 15:32.
We need wise mentors and counsellors in our walk of faith. They not necessary be pastors or ministers but brothers and sisters which emulate a Christ like life in their daily work, ministry and family. One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24. Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character. 1 Corinthians 15:33. One of the great parenting prayers is for God to send His mentors for our children and be surrounded with godly characters and wisdom. King David has his Samuel; Elisha has his Elijah; so as Joshua has his Moses.
Prayer: O Lord my God, I know you have thoughts for me, thoughts to prosper and not to harm, giving me a hope and future. I believe you have prepared and sent wise and godly mentors, counsel and friends into my life, family, and children. Let I not be deceived by flattery words of the world but be disciplined by faith filled words of the Kingdom. Let my heart be humble, obedient and teachable to your Word, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
