Today’s Inspiration: “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” Colossians 4:2. A spiritual life is not a religious life for a disciple of Christ. Jesus didn’t force his disciples to pray but rather it was his disciples who wanted Him to teach them how to pray. Luke 11:1. Devotion is a discipline but is also building a deep relationship with God. What is relational? There is communion, conversation and communication with God. An idol will not speak, hear or move so religious prayers will not have the power of the Spirit. But the Spirit of God brings conviction, corrections, and changes to our thoughts, emotions and decisions. 2 Timothy 4:2. Prayer led by the Spirit brings forth power to change and transform.
Prayerlessness can lead a Christian into lukewarmness, and lukewarmness can lead one into lawlessness in the Spirit, which the desires of the flesh will take over in control. Know this, the flesh is anti-prayer, anti-word, and anti-worship. We need the Holy Spirit to build up our devotions to God. He is alive, intentional and powerful. Without the Holy Spirit, there is no spiritual encounter, growth and maturity. Globally today, many Christians are no longer going to Church because of technology advancement. I can’t fail to remember in the early church of Singapore, even elderlies who were in their old age were dressed in their Sunday best and reaches an hour before the the service to pray and seek the Lord. Such zeal, fervent and passion for Christ is the hearts on fire regardless of age at the prayer altar for us to emulate. Praise God!
Prayer: O Lord my God, pour forth your Holy Spirit upon me and lead me into your devotion of intercession. Open the eyes of my heart to be watchful in prayer and be thankful of all your plans and goodness. Let me enter your gates with praise and into your courts with thanksgiving in my heart for in your word, wisdom, and direction, your sheep hears your voice, you know me and I follow you, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
