Time to Pray

“The Lord works out everything to its proper end— even the wicked for a day of disaster. The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished. Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for; through the fear of the Lord evil is avoided.” Proverbs‬ ‭16‬:‭4‬-‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Many have plans but few have prayers. Both the Pharisees and the tax collector went to pray to God in the temple in Luke 18:9-14. Yet one was bragging how religious and pious he was and the latter was crying out in repentance in humility and remorse for his sins. God justified the latter prayer than the former one. Why?

The prideful Pharisee was not praying to God but to himself because of all the religious good works he had done whereas the repentant tax collector was praying to God for His grace and mercy so that He can be changed to a better person and his prayers were accepted by the Lord. This is the wisdom of prayer.

To God be the glory!
